Events

LIBERTY Victoria hosts and co-ordinates a number events during the year.

Liberty presents the annual Voltaire Award to a person or organisation which has made an outstanding contribution to free speech. The winner for 2009 was GetUp - an independent, grass-roots communicty advocacy organisation.  The Voltaire Award is presented at an annual dinner, originally organised by Free Speech Victoria, which merged with Liberty Victoria.

Liberty also presents the annual Allan Missen Oration in memory of the late Senator Allan Missen.

Liberty aims to hold a number of film night fundraisers per year, a good opportunity for Liberty members and supporters to get together, watch a good film and contribute to Liberty.

In addition Liberty hosts seminars and other events on topical matters concerning civil liberties and human rights. See the bottom of this page  for a list of past events.
